Taylor Swift took it to social media to congratulate Anita Baker, who finally owns the masters to her music after 35 years.
Owning your life’s work seems like a natural thing to many. But many artists are not given the opportunity to do so.
Taylor Swift is now fighting to own her first six albums, and you can read more about her struggle here. But she can congratulate people who manage to do it.
Legendary singer Anita Baker has been in a long fight to own her records, and she finally did it. There was even a time when the singer asked her fans to stop streaming her music until it is finally hers.
Anita announced on Twitter that she finally owns her albums The Rapture, The Songstress, Compositions, Giving You The Best That I Got and Rhythm of Love.
She took a picture of them, nicely arranged by the fire, and wrote: “All My Children Are Coming Home Catalog. Impossible Things Happen … Every. Single. Day. Gratefully.”
Taylor Swift then congratulated Anita Baker on this big achievement, calling it “a beautiful moment.”
Taylor re-tweeted Anita’s message, and added: “What a beautiful moment, CONGRATULATIONS ANITA!!” with two emojis of a smiley face with a tear, and two applause emojis.
You’ll get there soon, Taylor. She has currently released the first of her six albums, Fearless (Taylor’s Version) with Red (Taylor’s Version) to come later this autumn.
Congratulations Anita!
