Netflix just debuted The Guilty‘s first trailer, and Jake Gyllenhaal is a 911 operator who is dealing with a lot of stress. You know, just like the rest of us.
Netflix has a lot to come in the upcoming months, and The Guilty is among them. Jake Gyllenhaal’s latest project is an adaptation of the 2018 Danish movie Den Skyldige. And since good movies always get American adaptations, The Guilty is now under Netflix’s belt.
Impressed with the crime drama, The Guilty is not your typical action movie. In fact, the entire action happens in one room, and there’s no car chase, no fighting, and no explosions. It’s all in Jake Gyllenhaal’s character, Joe Baylor’s headset.
Jake plays a 911 operator, and he gets a call from a woman whom he tries to help, but the situation is far more complicated than it seems.
For the movie, Jake teams up again with Southpaw director Antoine Fuqua. True Detective‘s creator Nic Pizzolatto is writing and executive producing the new film, which is rated R for language.
The film also stars Peter Sarsgaard, Riley Keough, Byron Bowers, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, David Castañeda, Christina Vidal, Paul Dano, Ethan Hawke, Adrian Martinez, Bill Burr, Beau Knapp, and Edi Patterson.
