Zac Efron is finally opening up about his face change that people talked about in 2021. And no, it wasn’t plastic surgery.
Plastic surgery is something very common in Hollywood, although celebrities admit it or not. Some of them do it and are open about it, while others vehemently deny it.
In 2021, people noted a face change in Zac Efron after he joined Bill Nye on Earth Day to present a special musical to fans. Immediately people started talking about it, claiming the actor has had plastic surgery. Other fans jumped to defend him, saying that people shouldn’t comment on other’s bodies. Some hard fans reminded everyone that Zac broke his jaw in 2013. Which is the correct answer.
In a new interview with Men’s Health Magazine, the 34-year-old actor reveals had been at home at the moment of the incident. He was running and slipped in a puddle of water while wearing socks.
The star explained that he lost consciousness only to wake up with “his chin bone hanging off his face.” He further shared that the masseter muscles, used for chewing, work together with the other muscles of the face “like a symphony”; when he was injured, the muscles on the inside of his face and jaw had to compensate.
Zac currently works with a specialist and does physical therapy to mediate this, he says, but in Australia he took some time off from that, too. “The masseters just grew,” he says, shrugging. “They just got really, really big.”
During the interview, he also revealed he had no idea about the plastic surgery rumors. His own mother called him to ask him if he went under the knife. “If I valued what other people thought of me to the extent that they may think I do,” he says, “I definitely wouldn’t be able to do this work.”
