Justin Bieber has just gone on an unfollowing spree and the latest person he unfollowed from his Instagram is his longtime mentor, Usher.
Usher and Bieber’s relationship goes way to the latter’s career beginnings. Usher signed Bieber after he heard the young singer’s cover of “U Got It Back.” They met in 2008 and the rest is history. Usher appeared on Bieber’s debut album, My World, and they collaborated on the song “First Dance.” Their relationship included more collabs, as Usher appeared on Bieber’s “Somebody to Love” remix on My World 2.0.
Amid the ongoing lawsuits and controversies R&B singer Diddy is involved in, Justin Bieber has recently unfollowed many people and the fact that Usher is among them is raising eyebrows.
Both Usher and Justin Bieber’s names came up last year in the aftermath of Diddy’s arrest and downfall, as both had connections with Diddy. People even think that Usher was the one who introduced Bieber to Diddy when he was only 14 years old.
When Bieber rose to fame, he was merely 13. Scooter Braun, his longtime manager, discovered him and introduced him to Usher, who jumped at the opportunity to sign him. He had some competition back in the day, GMA reports, as Justin Timberlake was also interested in signing in.
Usher and Bieber remained close, and the former attended the “Baby” superstar’s wedding to Hailey Bieber in 2019.
Considering that Diddy was a mentor to Usher, who often admitted weird things happened at Diddy’s parties, his fandom is now extending his support after unfollowing him, as well as Scooter Braun.
The controversial music mogul Scooter Braun was a manager to many celebrities, including Bieber, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, and more. He is also the person who bought Taylor Swift’s masters without her knowledge, which eventually led to her re-recording her first six albums to own her music.
Bieber reportedly wanted to leave Braun’s management since 2023 and has been quiet on the whole Diddy controversy. His wife, Hailey Bieber, also seemingly unfollowed Braun on social media. In the aftermath, Braun deactivated his account.
He also unfollowed other key members from his career, including his general manager Allison Kaye, the president of Braun’s company, SB Projects, Ryan Good, his road manager and best man at his wedding to Hailey, and more.
Of course, the move to delete Usher has sent the internet into a frenzy, as many people wonder what Bieber knows, and how it connects to Usher.
Ever since the terrifying allegations against Diddy, fans have been trying to find out who else was involved in the illegal parties the music mogul held. The spotlight was also on Bieber, who was very young at the time he met Diddy. The singer hasn’t addressed the lawsuits so far, and the developments happened after he welcomed his first child with Hailey Bieber.
Bieber unfollowing everyone from his management might mean that he’s simply done with that stage of his life. Bieber hasn’t released any new music in a while and might want to change direction and start new. At the same time, with all that’s been going on, it’s only natural for fans to assume that his distancing from names like Usher might have something to do with Diddy. Obviously, time will tell if there is more to it.
