Julie Plec‘s next project will be to adapt Richelle Mead‘s Vampire Academy on Peacock. The showrunner will team up with Marguerite MacIntyre to write the story.
You might have remember that Julie Plec was the showrunner for one of the most famous vampire teenage show, The Vampire Diaries. The show quickly became a fan favorite and it ran for eight seasons. It also produced two spin-offs, The Originals and Legacies.
Now Plec is to adapt Vampire Academy on Peacock, Variety reports. She says the book series is on of her favorites.
The Vampire Academy series consists of six books written between 2007 and 2010. The book series focuses on Rose Hathaway and Lissa Dragomir, who are friends despite their social status. The two go through a lot of tasks at St. Vladamir’s Academy before they are ready to enter royal vampire society.
And I know what you’re thinking. But wasn’t there a movie or something? Yes, it was. But despite having Mark Waters (Mean Girls, Freaky Friday) at the helm, the movie did poorly. Starring the incredible Zoey Deutch and Danila Kozlovsky as a perfect Dimitri, their chemistry wasn’t enough to save the movie. The movie has 5.5 on IMDB, and 16% on Rotten Tomatoes.

But we might just get the chance to see the perfect cast, and to even get to know Adrian, should the new show gets more seasons.
Plec said about the upcoming project: “When I signed my new deal with Universal Television, they asked what project I had always been dying to make and my immediate answer was Vampire Academy.”
I legit can’t wait!
