Prince William and Prince Harry both spoke against the BBC interview with Princess Diana. The two Royals claim that it lead to Princess Diana’s divorce and later, to her death.
On Thursday, both Prince William and Prince Harry accused BBC of having a role into their mother’s death. Following Princess Diana’s interview with Martin Bashir, her sons claim it had a huge impact on her divorce and death.
The broadcaster “made lurid and false claims about the Royal Family which played on her fears and fueled paranoia,” Prince William said in a video statement.
“The interview was a major contribution to making my parents’ relationship worse and has since hurt countless others.” The deceitful methods interviewer Martin Bashir used to gain access to the princess for the one-on-one “substantially influenced what my mother said.”

During his Scotland tour, Prince William also shared that some of his happiest, but also the saddest, memories are there. Prince William said that he was in Balmoral, Scotland, when he first heard of his mother’s death.
“Along with listening this week, there is something I do want to tell you. Scotland is incredibly important to me and will always have a special place in my heart. I’ve been coming to Scotland since I was a small boy. As I grew up, I saw how my grandmother relishes every minute she spends here. And my father is never happier than when walking among the hills.”
“In short, Scotland is the source of some of my happiest memories. But also, my saddest.”
“I was in Balmoral when I was told that my mother had died. Still in shock, I found sanctuary in the service at Crathie Kirk that very morning. And in the dark days of grief that followed, I found comfort and solace in the Scottish outdoors. As a result, the connection I feel to Scotland will forever run deep.”
