Andrew Garfield is breaking all our hearts as he denies being in the new Spider-Man: No Way Home. Ever since the trailer, people have been expecting Garfield to make his return as Peter Parker.
Andrew Garfield was a terrific Peter Parker, the same way Tobey Maguire was a terrific Spider-Man. But ever since the trailer for the upcoming No Way Home dropped, everyone is expecting the two to make their return as the beloved character.
However, Andrew Garfield seems to want to burst our bubble as he just denied, again, being in the new Spider-Man. In a new interview with Variety, the actor shared: “I understand why people are freaking out about the concept of that because I’m a fan as well. You can’t help but imagine scenes and moments of ‘Oh, my God, how fucking cool would it be if they did that?’” he says. “But it’s important for me to say on the record that this is not something I’m aware I am involved in. But I know I’m not going to be able to say anything that will convince anyone that I don’t know what’s happening. No matter what I say, I’m fucked. It’s either going to be really disappointing for people or it’s going to be really exciting.”
But he also noted the beautiful things he got out of The Amazing Spider-Man: “It was only beautiful. I got to meet Emma [Stone] and work with her and Sally Field.”
You remember that, back then, Emma and Andrew dated for a few years, and were one of the fan-favorite couples. The two seem to have had an amicable split, and they praise each other every time they’re mentioned.
Coming back to Spider-Man, Andrew previously denied his involvement in the movie in another interview with Happy Sad Confused podcast: “Dude, it’s f**king hilarious to me. Because it’s like… because I do have this Twitter account and I see how often Spider-Man is trending, and it’s like people freaking out about a thing and I’m just like, ‘Guys…’ I wish I could just be able to speak to everyone and say, like, ‘I recommend that you chill.’ I can’t speak for anything else apart from myself, they might be doing something. But I ain’t got a call.”
Now, we all know Marvel is over-the-top secretive. Given how much Tom Holland likes to spoil things, they might take extra measures, and maybe Andrew is showing how a real Peter Parker protects his identity. One could dream, right?
