Aubrey Plaza and Jeff Baena married in 2021 after dating for a decade. The Agatha All Along actress revealed the news on social media at the time in a post about her role in The White Lotus. In the message, she called the writer and director her “darling husband.”
The Parks and Recreation actress publicly praised her husband often praised her husband in public settings, and addressed their wedding in December 2021 during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show.
“The marriage was just like a joke that honestly went too far,” Plaza explained. “We got married on a whim. Literally decided at around 5 p.m. and got married at 8:30.”
She continued, noting the two didn’t wear typical wedding attire but tie-dye outfits. “Jeff got really into tie-dyeing during the quarantine so I decided that we were going to wear tie-dye pajamas that Jeff had made for us…. I had my little rosemary crown and a love altar in the backyard of all of our love objects. It was very witch-core but it happened.”
The two previously collaborated on several projects including 2014’s Life After Beth, 2017’s The Little Hours, and 2022’s Spin Me Round.
Following her husband’s shocking death, the internet and fellow celebrities shared their support for the actress. At the same time, the internet was also filled with disgusting messages about her “being single.”
As she needs time to heal in the aftermath of this tragedy, getting off social media is the way to go. Even with the positive messages and wishes, staying off the platform altogether will not drag her into an even worse place.
