Barack Obama Weighs In Cancel Culture and Daughters’ Activism

Former President of the United States Barack Obama weighed in the new cancel culture in a new interview. He added that his daughters’ generation understands it better. He also talked about their activism and implication in the Black Lives Matter protests.

Former President Barack Obama has just had a new interview with Anderson Cooper, where he opened up about cancel culture his daughters’ activism.

Obama said: “At least in conversations with my daughter, I think that a lot of the dangers of cancel culture and we’re just going to be condemning people all the time. At least among my daughters they will acknowledge sometimes among their peer group or in college campuses you’ll see folks going overboard.”

As for Sasha and Malia, he adds, “But they have a pretty good sense of look, we don’t want, we don’t expect everybody to be perfect.”

When Barack Obama took office in 2008, his daughters were small children. Now, they are 19 and 22, and they’re both in college, taking their education seriously. But they’re also very involved in serious matters. Both daughters attended protests for Black Lives Matter last year.

In the interview, Barack Obama said his daughters are “wiser” than he was at their age.

“I always worry about their physical safety; that’s just the nature of fatherhood… But in terms of them having a good sense of what’s right and wrong, and their part and role to play in making the country better, I don’t worry about that.”

He added: “What you and I might have tolerated as ‘That’s sort of how things are,’ their attitude is ‘Why? Let’s change it.’ That’s among not just my daughters, but it’s among their white friends. There’s this sense of, ‘Of course, it’s not acceptable for a criminal justice system to be tainted by racism. Of course you can’t discriminate against somebody because their sexual orientation.’ There’s things they take for granted that I want them to take for granted.”
