And just like that, Chris Noth aka Mr. Big has found himself accused of sexually assault by two women. The news comes less than a week after the HBO Max‘s revival premiere.
Sex and the City star Chris Noth is commonly known as Mr. Big after playing the iconic character in several seasons and the revival.
Now the 67-year-old actor has a scandal upon him, and it’s quite Big.
Two women are accusing Chris Noth of sexual assault, one of them in 2004 n Los Angeles, and one in 2015 in New York. Both claim he lured them to private areas where he forced himself on them, The Hollywood Reporter revealed on Thursday. They approached THR separately, and do not know each other.
The two victims, one who is now 40, and the other 31, decided to step forward as they were triggered after the new revival show, And Just Like That, premiered on HBO Max.
One of the victims works in the entertainment business, and shared to THR: “I’m not sure how you go about this sort of story and how you find the other victims,” she wrote in an email.
She added that: “seeing that he was reprising his role in Sex and the City set off something in me. For so many years, I buried it.” She decided it was time “to try to go public with who he is.”
The other victim shared she met him at work when she was 22. She worked at a high-profile firm that dealt with celebrities, and Noth started flirting with her. One day, he invited her to a pool party in a building where he had an apartment. When he left a book behind, she went up to return it. At the door, he kissed her and pulled her inside, and sexually assaulted her. The victim also adds that she needed to go to the hospital after, and ended up with two stitches.
After THR contacted him, Chris Noth released the following statement about the alleged sexual assault: “The accusations against me made by individuals I met years, even decades, ago are categorically false. These stories could’ve been from 30 years ago or 30 days ago — no always means no — that is a line I did not cross. The encounters were consensual. It’s difficult not to question the timing of these stories coming out. I don’t know for certain why they are surfacing now, but I do know this: I did not assault these women.”
