The first look at Chris Pratt‘s The Tomorrow War is here. The sci-fi thriller stars Chris Pratt and Yvonne Strahovski, who make use of all the $200M Amazon Prime invested.

Chris Pratt is back trying to save the Galaxy. Maybe this time he will manage not to get the big-bad villain angry as much as he did in the Avengers. But Amazon Prime seems to get this right.

Chris Pratt’s The Tomorrow War features time travelers who come to the present day and warn people of a battle between humans and aliens. Pratt stars as Dan Forester, a high school teacher recruited to fight a war 30 years in the future. Dan teams up with his estranged father (J.K. Simmons) and a brilliant scientist (Yvonne Strahovski) in a desperate quest to rewrite the fate of the planet.

The time travelers come to Earth to recruit people in the fight against an alien species. So their only hope for survival is for soldiers to travel to the year 2051 and fight to save the planet.

The movie was originally intended for a theatrical release with Paramount Pictures. But Amazon Studios acquired the distribution rights due to the pandemic. The amount they paid for the deal was $200 million.

Chris McKay (The Lego Batman Movie) directed the sci-fi action movie, and Zach Dean (Deadfall) wrote the script. The movie also stars Edwin Hodge, Sam Richardson, Betty Gilpin, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Jasmine Mathews and Ryan Kiera Armstrong.

The thirty-seconds video doesn’t show any fight scenes. But the few scenes show that the movie seems to feature a great soundtrack. And given the budget, the movie promises bad-ass fight scenes and visual effects. While we do not get a glimpse at the aliens, only at the destruction they left behind.

The Tomorrow War will be widely available on Prime Video on July 2.
