Courteney Cox has finally received her first Emmy nomination at Emmy Awards 2021 for her Friends role as Monica Geller. She was the only one of the six who hadn’t scored one.
Following the Friends Reunion, Courteney Cox can join the other six with an Emmy nomination.
After almost two decades since the show ended, Courteney’s name popped up for the first time at the Emmy nominations.
The actress, who played Monica Geller to perfection, was the only one of the six who hadn’t received a nomination for her Friends role. I KNOW! Weird.
On the Howard Stern’s Sirius XM show last month, Courtney discussed her previous snubs for Friends, saying that while she was happy for everybody else, she was upset to be left out. “It was finally like, ‘Oh, I’m the only one?’ It hurt,” she said.
The HBO Max special Friends: The Reunion received a variety special (pre-recorded) nom from the Television Academy on Tuesday. Courteney was one of the executive producers of the reunion, alongside the original show’s creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane and cast members Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer.
Following the nomination, Courteney took it to social media and wrote: “The one where we are incredibly grateful to the Academy for this honor and especially thankful for @mrbenwinston [director of the reunion] and his entire team for their outstanding achievement.”
Congratulations, Courteney!
