Showtime announced they would be bringing out the crime drama Dexter for a reboot. In the new teaser for Season 9, Dexter smiles creepily with the promise of the good ol’ days.
As we mentioned in the story about Dexter’s first teaser trailer for the reboot, fans were disappointed in the show’s finale. But that’s not uncommon. One of the biggest shows ever, Game of Thrones, offered a disappointing season finale for lots of fans. But it’s more uncommon for them to go back and fix it. Dexter is one of them, and Showtime hopes this will leave the fans satisfied.
The first teaser kicked off with the camera showing an axe embedded in a piece of tree trunk outside in nature. There also seems to be a fire smoldering in the background. Then, almost at the end of the 10-seconds teaser, captioned “Nature is calling,” Michael’s Dexter can be heard saying: “There really is nothing like getting back to nature. My nature.”
But in the first one, we didn’t get a chance to see Michael C. Hall go back to his nature.
The second trailer picks up right when the first one ended. Titled Misunderstood, this gives us a bit more to hype on. But as the camera moves away from the smoldering fire, you get a glimpse at Michael’s Dexter inside a cabin. After a few more seconds as the camera moves away even further, we see how Dexter smiles creepily with the promise of something more.
Dexter’s look is a near mirror to the shot from Dexter’s original finale. Now that his beard is shaved once again, it seems like Dexter’s ready to get back to his old ways.
Dexter will return in the 10-part limited series. Showtime announced the crime drama will premiere this fall.
