Last month, news broke out that Scarlett Johansson planned to sue Disney over their release of Black Widow. Scarlett’s last movie within the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been pushed back several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And when it was finally released, Disney+ released it both in theaters and on their platform with $29.99 Premier Access.

Which they did also with other movies like Cruella and Jungle Cruise.

After news broke out that Scarlett planned to sue Disney, rumors were that Emma Stone and Emily Blunt were considering the same thing for their movies.

But now Emma Stone got a new deal for Cruella 2. The movie, which did fantastic both online and theaters with $222 million in worldwide ticket sales, obviously got a sequel.

Now her new deal seems to be truly great for both sides.

Emma‘s agent Patrick Whitesell, who is the executive chairman of Endeavor, commented on Deadline about the deal: “While the media landscape has been disrupted in a meaningful way for all distributors, their creative partners cannot be left on the sidelines to carry a disproportionate amount of the downside without the potential for upside. This agreement demonstrates that there can be an equitable path forward that protects artists and aligns studios’ interests with talent. We are proud to work alongside Emma and Disney, and appreciate the studio’s willingness to recognize her contributions as a creative partner. We are hopeful that this will open the door for more members of the creative community to participate in the success of new platforms.”

According to Matthew Belloni in his What I’m Hearing newsletterEmma made Disney “acknowledge for the first time that it should have negotiated a ‘buyout’ of her box office bonuses on the first Cruella, like Warner Bros. did for its 2021 movies.”

In their negotiations, Emma reportedly got an eight figure salary “make good” payment for Cruella‘s hybrid release and is now receiving another eight figure payment for Cruella 2.
