Rumors are that Emma Stone is currently “weighing her options” about suing Disney over the release of her movie, Cruella. The movie premiered both in theater and on Disney+.
A few days ago, news broke out that longtime Marvel actress Scarlett Johansson has sued Disney over the release of her solo movie, Black Widow.
Black Widow did immensely well in Box Office. But the issue was that there was a breach in contract regarding its release. Scarlett’s salary was negotiated according to how well it did in theaters, and she got money from the tickets. But, at the same time, Disney released the movie on their platform, Disney+ for $29.99 with the Premier Access feature , therefore breaching their contract and making Scarlett lose some big bucks.
But it looks like Scarlett’s not the only one whose contract Disney didn’t honor.
Emma Stone is reportedly considering suing Disney over her Cruella release. In his newsletter What I’m Hearing…, former The Hollywood Reporter editor Matthew Belloni claims that Stone is “said to be weighing her options.”
But she’s not the only one. It looks like Emily Blunt is “likely watching the Jungle Cruise numbers closely this weekend,” and doesn’t dismiss the idea of a lawsuit against Disney.
Jungle Cruise is doing very well currently in theaters, with $91.8M in its opening weekend. $34.2 were in ticket sales, over $30M on Disney+, and $27.6M in international box office.
Cruella brought in $47.07M, in both theaters and Disney+.
Black Widow made $215M-plus in its opening window. $80M were at the domestic box office, $78M in international box office, and over $60M in Disney+ Premier Access.
