Kelly Clarkson has to pay spousal and child support to her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. But the court ordered her to pay him nearly $200,000 a month, and fans have a lot to comment.
You probably know by now that Kelly Clarkson is pretty awesome.
She has an amazing voice, she is incredibly talented, and funny. Turns out, she can host a talk show like no other, and The Kelly Clarkson Show is doing so well that it’s going to take Ellen Degeneres‘ time slot for her show.
She is a coach on NBC‘s The Voice, and also a singer. And a mother.
Unfortunately, she is in the midst of a pretty messy divorce from Brandon Blackstock. Her husband, who inspired many great, heartfelt songs, has been asking for quite a lot of money in spousal support. He wanted $436,000 per month ($301,000 in spousal support and $135,000 in child support), PEOPLE reports.
However, he “only” got about half, as a judge decided Kelly was to pay $150,000 per month in spousal support, as well as $45,601 per month in child support.
Kelly filed for divorce in June 2020 after seven years of marriage.
After the news broke out, fans were livid on the amount she has to pay. Also, they noted the sexism on how women are called “gold diggers” after their divorce settlement. Meanwhile, men receive congratulations.
