Here Are the VMAs 2023 Winners, Taylor Swift Makes History With 9 Wins

Taylor Swift was the big winner of the 2023 VMAs, taking home no less than nine moonmen. The night was filled with music, awards, and a Shakira celebration.

The MTV Video Music Awards returned to Newark’s Prudential Center to celebrate the big names in pop music.

There were numerous performances, including Olivia Rodrigo, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj, Anitta, Demi Lovato, Doja Cat, Karol G, Stray Kids, and more.

Sean “Diddy” Combs received the Global Icon Award. He was the third recipient for the award at the 2023 VMAs, following Foo Fighters (2021) and Red Hot Chili Peppers (2022). The rapper and business mogul performed a medley of his hits, with appearances from Yung Miami, Keyshia Cole, and his son, King Combs. It was a family affair, as his twins D’Lila and Jessie also danced with him on stage. His oldest daughter, Chance, also introduced the award with him, next to icon Mary J Blige.

Meanwhile, Shakira became the first South American artist to receive the Video Vanguard Award. The 2023 VMAs became the Shakira show as put on quite a performance. She sung hits like “Whenever, Wherever,” “Objection,” “She Wolf,” and part of her latest hit single, BZRP‘s “Music Sessions #53” and “TQG.”

Even before the awards, Taylor Swift led the pack with a total of eight nominations.
