The 2023 Met Gala just took place in New York and la crème de la crème was present on the red carpet. This year’s theme? It was all in honor of the late famous designer Karl Lagerfeld. Whose comments toward women and minorities were problematic at best.

However, A-list celebrities did all their best to embody the theme dressing up in his designs or outfits he wore, and even go as cats (like Jared Leto).

However, The Good Place actress Jameela Jamil just slammed the 2023 Met Gala for its “selective cancel culture.”

Last night Hollywood and fashion said the quiet part out loud when a lot of famous feminists chose to celebrate at the highest level, a man who was so publicly cruel to women, to fat people, to immigrants, and to sexual assault survivors,” expressed Jamil in a text. “And all the women’s publications, and spectators online, chose to gleefully ignore it.

This isn’t the first time she has voiced her disagreement with its theme. First, it was in September, when the theme was announced.

In the same post, Jameela shared, “Nobody has perfect morals, least of all me, but Jesus Christ we had a year to course correct here, and not award the highest honor possible to a known bigot…and everyone just decided all of a sudden we can separate the art from the artist when *convenient*. And it’s one rule for us and another rule for everybody else. Last night we relinquished our right to be taken at all seriously about anything important.

There were some celebrities out there who subtly shaded Karl on the red carpet, though. Several celebrities wore pink (based on his famous “Think pink. But don’t wear it,” quote), like Viola Davis, Ashley Graham, Sydney Sweeney, and more.

Plus, Lizzo wore a custom black silk crêpe Chanel dress with a glass pearls harness, along with accessories and makeup that was very Chanel-inspired.

But the big f**k you came when she posted a photo of herself in the outfit, standing in a kitchen and eating some French fries.
