Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are now officially married, twenty years after their initial engagement. And it wasn’t a huge, lavish wedding, but something intimate in Las Vegas. “Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient.“
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck (also commonly known as Bennifer) need no introduction. The two were the It couple of the early 2000s and seemed very much in love. They eventually broke up and went to marry other people.
Ben married fellow actress Jennifer Garner, with whom he shares three children, Violet, Seraphina Rose, and Samuel. On her side, Lopez married singer Marc Anthony, and share twins Emme and Max.
Several relationships and engagement later, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck made their way back to each other. Shortly after she ended her engagement to Alex Rodriguez, the two reconnected and their relationship became serious very fast. One year later, in April, this year Bennifer announced their engagement.
And now Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are finally married. The couple obtained a marriage license in Clark County, Nevada, over the weekend, according to court records obtained by PEOPLE.
Later after the news broke, Jennifer Lopez confirmed the news with an “we did it” e-mail via her OnTheJLo newsletter.
She went to describe her intimate wedding, which was “exactly what we wanted.” Although everyone expected Bennifer to have a big, lavish wedding, they’re now officially married without a big fuss. “Last night we flew to Vegas, stood in line for a license with four other couples, all making the same journey to the wedding capital of the world.”
They made it just in time, before they closed at midnight, Jennifer reveals. “They graciously stayed open late a few minutes, let us take pictures in a pink Cadillac convertible, evidently once used by the king himself (but if we wanted Elvis himself to show, that cost extra and he was in bed).“
Jennifer went on to describe they wore “a dress from an old movie and a jacket from Ben’s closet, we read our own vows in the little chapel and gave one another the rings we’ll wear for the rest of our lives.”
However, that was perfect for the power couple, and it was “the best possible wedding we could have imagined. One we dreamed of long ago and one made real (in the eyes of the state, Las Vegas, a pink convertible and one another) at very, very long last.“
She signed the letter to her fans as “Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Affleck,” as she legally took his name. Jennifer didn’t share whether all their five children joined them. However, she did share a picture of Emme.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
