Matthew Perry Died at 54 in Apparent Drowning

This is the most difficult news for Friends fans out there: The One Where Matthew Perry Died. The beloved actor reportedly drowned in his hot tub at 54 years old.

Matthew Perry, who played Chandler Bing on the famous sitcom Friends, died at 54 years old, in his hot tub.

TMZ was the first to report the news, claiming that first-responders arrived at the scene after a call about a cardiac arrest. Perry was reportedly in his jacuzzi at the time of his death. The first preliminary reports claim there is no foul play and no drugs were found at the scene.

A later update on the same outlet revealed that the actor “came home sometime in the AM after a 2-hour round of pickleball, and that he sent his assistant out on errand shortly thereafter. We’re told when the assistant returned about 2 hours later, he discovered Matthew unresponsive and called 911.”

Coincidentally, Matthew Perry’s last Instagram post showed him in a hot tub.

Matthew Perry’s Role in Friends

Matthew Perry had an extended filmography, appearing in several movies and TV series. He starred with Salma Hayek in the classic romcom Fools Rush In, played older Zac Efron in 17 Again, The Whole Nine Yards, and more.

As for TV series, he appeared in Go On, The Good Wife, Growing Pains, Boys Will Be Boys, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, The Odd Couple, and more.

However, his most recognizable and iconic role was the one in Friends. In the beloved 90s sitcom, Perry played Chandler Bing, the sarcastic friend with a fear of commitment. He is easily one of the most beloved character out of the six and Matthew Perry’s involvement and improv showed how funny he was in real life and how well he connected with the character.
