Mindy Kaling shared that she still gets some good royalty checks from The Office, and that they’re “still pretty good.” The actress starred and wrote for the Emmy award winning series.
Mindy Kaling, who starred in the fan-favorite series The Office, as Kelly Kapoor, was also a writer on the show. And came up with some of the funniest moments from the series.
So it’s only natural that her time on the show still pays off. Literally.
The actress revealed in a new interview with Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that she only became rich “five years ago.” In a fashion segment with Rachel Zoe, Mindy chimed in and shared that she’s “very new money, like I got rich like five years ago, and for me, I’m like wearing the bucket hat.”
To which Andy commented: “I do want to talk about your money,” and Mindy continued with “Please.” So he asked whether her checks from The Office are still “healthy,” and if the cast are still “rolling in it.”
Mindy admitted: “The checks are still pretty good, they’re pretty good,” Kaling, 42, revealed.
“They’re not, like, buy a house good. But they’re like, help pay for your kid’s education good,” she added.
She also shared her pet peeve about the show: “We used to keep The Office set very cold. It was, like, 60 degrees and I remember not being able to do anything about that. It’s just a little cold.”
She also replied to a fan that she would “love to” revisit her character from The Mindy Project on a reboot or a movie. “For the fashion alone,” she said. “And for the guys.” Yes, please.
