Netflix Unveils First Look at Lucifer Season 5B

Lucifer quickly became a fan favorite, maybe due to Tom Ellis‘ charm. After Fox cancelled the show, Netflix quickly revived the beloved series. Now Netflix just gave us a first look at Lucifer Season 5B!

Lucifer premiered back in 2016 on Fox. While the first season received mixed reviews, everyone was delighted with Tom Ellis as Lucifer. The show quickly became a fan favorite, thanks to Lucifer’s charm and the banter between him and female protagonist Detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German).

After three seasons, Fox cancelled the series, based solely on its ratings. Fans were disappointed, but a month later, Netflix stepped in and picked up the show for a fourth season of ten episodes. In 2019, Netflix renewed Lucifer for a fifth and what they thought to be the final season. On June 23, 2020, Netflix officially renewed the series for a sixth and final season of ten episodes.

Initially, it was supposed to be a ten-part season, but we ended up with 16 episodes, split into two parts. The first half was released in August, 2020. Now Netflix gives us a look into Lucifer Season 5B.

The second part of the fifth season will “pick up literally two seconds from where we ended,” DB Woodside told TVLine, with God (guest star Dennis Haysbert) breaking up a fight between “children” Lucifer (Tom Ellis), Amenadiel (Woodside) and Michael (also Tom Ellis). “When God comes, you know, a lot of chaos is going to follow… We’re finally going to dive into some of these storylines about the relationship between Lucifer and God, and the relationship between Amenadiel and God.”

Lucifer will return on May 28.
