A few days ago, Britney Spears happily announced her engagement to her longtime boyfriend, Sam Asghari. The two met on the set of Britney’s music video for “Slumber Party” in 2016 and have been together ever since. Sam has stood by the “Toxic” singer during the hardest time in her conservatorship, and now that she’s almost out, he popped the question.

But, while a lot of people celebrated the engagement, many fans wondered whether Sam is actually the real deal.

Actress Octavia Spencer joked in the comment section, writing: “Make him sign a prenup.” While a lot of people agreed that the singer’s net worth of almost $60 million needs to be protected, Octavia claims she intended it as a joke. Which Sam himself joined in, claiming that he wants a prenup to protect his “jeep” in case she dumps him.

As Britney Spears deleted her Instagram and claimed it’s to take a break on social media following the overwhelming messages related to her assets, Octavia Spencer shared she reached out to the couple in private to apologize for the prenup joke.

She wrote: Y’all, a few days ago Sam and Britney announced their engagement and me being me I made a joke. My intention was to make them laugh not cause pain. I’ve reached out to this lovely couple privately to apologize and now want to restore just a smidge of happiness they were robbed of. Britney’s fans have seen her through a lot of pain and she’s found happiness. We’re thrilled for her. So let’s show them love. 👇🏽 #nonegativity”

Sam himself replied to the message, writing: “You are very kind to clarify but i have no hard feelings whatsoever. Jokes and misconceptions come with the territory. 🙏 💯 ❤️”
