Don’t Worry Darling, a thriller film directed by Olivia Wilde, just had its premiere at the 2022 Venice Film Festival. But no one can actually enjoy the film because of the endless gossip.

The movie boasts big names like Harry Styles, Pugh, Gemma Chan, and Chris Pine. And it just had its official press conference and red carpet. Pugh didn’t attend the conference and was only on the red carpet. During the panel, Olivia claimed that was only because of her filming Dune.

On Monday, a reporter complimented the performances and said it was a “shame” Pugh was absent. They asked: “Can you just clear the air and address if there’s been a falling out there and if so why? Because it’s something that people are discussing.

Responding to the rumors about Florence Pugh, Olivia Wilde said, “Florence is a force, and we are so grateful that she’s able to make it tonight despite being in production on Dune. I know, as a director, how disruptive it is to lose an actor even for a day, so I’m very grateful to her, to Denis Villeneuve for helping us. And we’re really thrilled we’ll get to celebrate her work tonight. I can’t say enough how honored I am to have her as our lead. She’s amazing in the film.”

She continued, “As for all the endless tabloid gossip and all the noise out there, I mean, the internet feeds itself. I don’t feel the need to contribute. It’s sufficiently well nourished.”

Moderator Giulia D’Agnolo Vallan shut down the next question after a journalist from The Hollywood Reporter asked about “the noise” surrounding the film. Including Shia LaBeouf‘s exit from the project. “I think this question has been answered when she talked about the internet,” said Vallan.

In August, Olivia Wilde claimed she fired LaBeouf, but he went online to provide his point of view. “You and I both know the reasons for my exit. I quit your film because your actors and I couldn’t find time to rehearse.

Firing me never took place, Olivia,” the actor, 36, said. “And while I fully understand the attractiveness of pushing that story because of the current social landscape, the social currency that brings. It is not the truth. So I am humbly asking, as a person with an eye toward making things right, that you correct the narrative as best you can.
