COVID-19 hit the entire world in 2020, and it’s still not over. While some countries like Australia, Israel and New Zealand managed to keep it in control, a lot are still struggling. Priyanka Chopra urges fans to help India amid second wave of COVID-19 with emotional video.

India is currently going through its most devastating crisis yet. The cases have soared over the last few weeks. And the death toll from the virus topped 205,000 on Thursday. The country posted an all-time high of 386,000 new cases, bringing the total to almost 19 million. With people dying every day for the lack of resources, countries have jumped to help India.

But it’s still not enough, as the country claims they no longer have rooms in the ICU or enough oxygen supplies.

Indian actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas urges fans to help India with a plea on her own social media account. “Why do we need to care? Why is it so urgent right now? I’m sitting in London and hearing from my friends and family in India about how hospitals are at capacity, there are no rooms in ICUs, ambulances are too busy, oxygen supply is less.”

Priyanka continued: “India, my home, is suffering the world’s worst Covid crisis, and we all need to help! People are dying in record numbers. There is illness everywhere, and it’s only continuing to spread and kill at great speed and scale. I have set up a fundraiser with GiveIndia, the largest organization on the ground in India providing Covid relief. Whatever you can spare, truly makes a difference.”

Of course, Priyanka is not only asking for money without participating. She and her husband, Nick Jonas, also contributed to the cause, Pryianka revealed in the caption. “Nick and I already have and will continue to contribute. We have all seen how far and wide this virus can spread, an ocean between us makes no difference. No one is safe unless everyone is safe. It’s so heartening to see so many people stepping up to help in so many ways. We need to beat this virus, and to do that requires ALL of us. From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU!”
