Queen Elizabeth  was never supposed to be queen. After King Edward VIII abdicated, King George acceded to the throne in 1936. And so, she was officially the second in line.

Her Royal Majesty became queen in February 1952, when she was only 25 years old, following her father’s death.

Now it was officially confirmed that Queen Elizabeth died. She was 96 years old and had reigned for 70 years, making her the longest-reigning monarch of the British line.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and the Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”

Today, news broke out that her doctors were concerned about her health, and the Royal Family rushed to Scotland to Balmoral Castle.

Prince Charles and his wife, Camillla, Duches of Cornwall, were the first to travel to Balmoral Castle.

Princess Anne, the Queen’s only daughter, also rushed to the Castle. Prince William, the Duke of York, Prince Andrew, and The Earl of Wessex, Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, arrived together shortly after. Prince Harry was also on his way.

Rest in peace!
