Queen Elizabeth just celebrated her 95th birthday. Prior to that, she lost her husband of seven decades, Prince Philip. A new Royal expert just revealed that Queen Elizabeth plans to “fade away gracefully” from royal duties.
The British monarchy is one of the most famous in the world. But we’re getting nearer a new chapter for the Brits as Queen Elizabeth plans to “fade away gracefully” from her royal duties.
Queen Elizabeth became the Monarch at only 26-years-old, in 1952. Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee was set to happen in 2022. She would reach the longest reign in verified world history on 27th May 2024. However, the Queen doesn’t seem to plan to go that far.
Having lost her husband of 73 years, Prince Philip, the Queen reportedly wants to step away from her royal duties.
Peter Hunt, a royal expert who worked as at the BBC until 2017, shared with the New York Times: “Fundamentally, the Queen will fade away gracefully. COVID-19 has helped in the sense that it has accelerated what any sensible 95-year-old woman would want to do, which is not stand on your feet all day long.”
Following Prince Philip’s death, the Queen returned to her duties. But she is unlikely to return to her hectic schedule. Instead, the Queen plans to rely more on her son, Prince Charles. Charles is likely to take on more duties, including joining his mother in the state opening on parliament next month.
Queen Elizabeth also planned to spend more time in Windsor to be closer to Philip.
