Ricky Martin has opened up about his upcoming divorce from partner Jwan Yosef, revealing that the decision had been in the works for years.
Last month, news broke out that Latin superstar Ricky Martin and his husband, Jwan Yosef, are heading for divorce after six years of marriage.
The couple’s start happened like many other relationships – online. They met on Instagram in 2015 and started dating a few months later. They met in person in London, UK.
In 2016, they made their red carpet debut at the amFAR Inspiration Gala. The same year, they announced their engagement. Ricky Martin and Jwan Yosef got married in 2016.
Martin and Yosef share two children, daughter Lucia, born in 2018, and son Renn, born in 2019. Besides the two children he shares with Yosef, Ricky Martin is also father to twins Matteo and Valentino, born in 2008. They are planning to co-parent moving forward.

n a new interview, Ricky opened up about their split, revealing that they’ve been planning this for years.
“When the public found out, we had already gone through a grieving process,” Ricky in an interview with journalist Lourdes Collazo from Telemundo for Hola!. “Jwan and I will always be family.”
The “Livin’ la Vida Loca” singer added, “When the public found out, we had already gone through a grieving process,” revealing that the decision had been made pre-pandemic. “We have two children that we are going to raise together, and this is not a recent decision. We have been planning this situation for a long time, it’s pre-pandemic,” he added.
Martin continued, “We look into each other’s eyes and smile, we hug each other, and we go through the ups and downs, we cry together, and we laugh together,” he added about his relationship with his ex, ensuring they are “better than ever.”
