After a few days of speculation, Shakira and Gerard Pique officially confirmed their breakup. The couple had been together for over 11 years.
Shakira and Gerard Pique were one of the most beloved couples in the entertainment and sports industry. The two met in 2010, when he filmed for her music video for “Waka Waka.” The Columbian singer was headlining the 2010 World Championship and it was like it was meant to be.
On Saturday, Shakira and the Spanish soccer star, Pique, announced their breakup. “We regret to confirm that we are separating. For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we request respect for (our) privacy. Thank you for your understanding,” the couple said in a joint statement.
Cheating rumors have been swirling for the past few days. It was said that Pique cheated on the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer with a 20-year-old student and hostess. So far, there’s no confirmation of that.

And that confirms the fact that, you can be successful, beautiful, smart, talented, with a killer body, and the wrong person will still cheat on you. It now happened to Shakira, but it also happened to Jennifer Lopez (Alex Rodriguez), Beyoncé (Jay Z), and Jennifer Aniston (Brad Pitt). Of course, there are so many others.
Coming back to Shakira and Pique, like I’ve mentioned, the two met in 2010.

In 2013, Shakira and Pique welcomed their first son Milan Pique Mebarak.
In 2015, she announced her second pregnancy, with Sasha.
In 2017, Shakira released her song “Me Enamore,” which translates to “I fell in love.” The song is considered to be an ode to her love story with Gerard Pique, who stars in the music video.
Over the years, he had been her inspiration for several songs. Perhaps the most romantic one is “23,” which marks how old he was when they fell in love.
