Shawn Mendes is brining us new music as he just premiered “Summer of Love.” The new song is a collaboration with Tainy, and the music video is show Shawn reminiscing about a past love.
While the summer is still ongoing, Shawn Mendes makes us miss summer already with “Summer of Love.” The new song and its music video have a retro vibe that makes you reminisce about the past.
In the video, Shawn is driving around in a convertible, hangs out with friends, sings in hammocks hanging over water, and dives into blue, pristine waters and enjoy their life in a world where the pandemic doesn’t exist.
The music video was filmed in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, where Shawn enjoyed himself over a few weeks ago. “It was the summer of love/A delicate daydream/ And for a couple of months/It felt like we were 18.”
Talking about the song, Shawn shared in a statement: “I hope this song makes people feel free, free from the weight of life, even if just for a moment. The inspiration was getting a few months off to have a real summer with the people I love. My favorite part about creating it was getting the opportunity to work in the studio with Tainy. It was a special experience connecting with him since he’s such an incredible artist and amazing producer.”
Tainy also shared that he enjoyed her time working with Shawn: “Working with Shawn was so easy and really organic to be honest. He is a true musician and vocalist but aside from that, the energy he brought to the studio was super genuine so creating feel good music together just flowed. The chemistry is there and you can hear it in the music. [The song] has a very ‘summer vibe’ feel, led by main guitars and chords so I just wanted to give it more movement and heavy bass. That paired with Shawn’s vocals made it a perfect fit.”
Camila Cabello also shows how much of a supportive girlfriend she is. Right after debuting the song, the “Havana” singer took it to her social media and shared how much she loved the video and the song.
