Iconic actor Sylvester Stallone reveals he almost starred in Barbie and explains his connection to the film.
The eight-time Academy Award-nominated film Barbie had an ensemble cast led by Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. The film featured several actors like America Ferrera, Simu Liu, and Will Ferrell, but also cameos from Dua Lipa, John Cena, and Emerald Fennell. However, it initially had even more famous names.
Recently, Michael Cera revealed Ben Affleck should have been in Barbie. In the end, his schedule wouldn’t allow him. Now, iconic action star Sylvester Stallone reveals he should’ve been in Barbie, too.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show, Stallone admitted that he was offered a part, but he had to turn it down due to scheduling conflicts with Tulsa King.
“The director said, “Do you want to be in the film?” I said, “I’d love to be in the film,”” Stallone revealed to Jimmy Fallon. And then I was stuck on Tulsa King, so I couldn’t be on. And then they took kind of my image, and with Ryan [Gosling]. And it was, like, amazing. So that’s the story… They put him in a fur coat.”
Sylvester Stallone Was A Big Inspiration For Barbie
Director Greta Gerwig and Ryan Gosling have been very upfront about their mutual love for Stallone. The two said the Rocky star had a huge influence on the film, especially his fur coats. Gosling recently opened up about Stallone in his recent interview with Variety.
“We found out that Stallone wore a lot of minks,” Gosling said about his inspiration for Ken. “As long as Ken was wearing it, he was the Ken with the mink — and that separated him from the other Kens.”
Barbie includes several posters of Stallone as Rocky in the film. Stallone agreed that “I used to wear a Ken coat” during the ’80s.
Barbie is currently streaming on Max.
