Taylor decided to go “Back to December” and treat everyone with a surprise guest star in the best way. Taylor Swift has chosen to cast her ex, Taylor Lautner, in her new music video. Just a day after the release of her re-recorded album Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), one of the From the Vault tracks received a music video.

Besides Lautner, she also cast Joey King and Presley Cash, both who appeared in her music video for “Mean” in 2010.

“I Can See You” (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)

The “I Can See You” (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault) music video has a heist vibe as they try to save her master recordings. Taylor, in her Speak Now Tour attire (complete with #13 and lyrics down her arm) is hidden away in a vault, and it’s Lautner, King, and Cash’s job to get her out. The only thing she saves from an entire museum of her previous memorabilia is her new album, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).

WELL. SO,” the singer started on social media about the new music video. “I’ve been counting down for months and finally the ‘I Can See You’ video is out. I wrote this video treatment over a year ago and really wanted to play out symbolically how it’s felt for me to have the fans helping me reclaim my music. I had my heart set on Joey King, Taylor Lautner and Presley Cash starring in it. Joey and Presley had been in the video for ‘Mean’ when they were 9 and 13 and they are back and so ridiculously bad ass!! Taytay (Lautner) is INCREDIBLE in this (didn’t have a stunt double!) and shout out to Tay Lautner (his wife) for being so awesome to hang with on set. The Tale of 3 Taylors…

I always wanted to direct fight scenes/a heist storyline,” she added, “and had the most incredible time plotting this out with my amazing DP Jonathan Sela. So proud of this one.” Swift wrote and directed the video, as she has all her clips since the Lover album in 2019.

All three co-stars made a appearance at Swift’s show at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri on Friday, sharing the stage to introduce the new video.

Taylor Lautner Is Taylor Swift’s Best Ex

Lautner and Swift briefly dated in 2010, shortly after co-starring in Valentine’s Day. The relationship didn’t last but one of Taylor’s most popular songs came out of it: “Back to December.” Taylor Lautner has proven to be Taylor Swift’s best ex. He even joked not long ago that he felt “safe” amid the Speak Now re-recording. The Twilight alum also jokingly added that he “prayed for John [Mayer].

Of Lautner, Swift told the Kansas City crowd, “He was a very positive force in my life when I was making the Speak Now album, and I want to say he did every single stunt that you saw in that music video. He and his wife have become some of my closest friends, and it’s very convenient because we all share the same first name.” (Lautner’s wife is Taylor Dome; whom he married last year.)

Lautner said to Swift in front of the stadium audience, ‘“I respect you so much. Not just for the singer you are, the songwriter, the performer — but truly for the human you are. You are gracious, humble, kind and I’m honored to know you.
