The Bear is returning with season 3, and the release window is sooner than anyone would’ve expected.
FX show The Bear will return soon, FX chairman John Landgraf officially confirmed at the Television Critics Association’s winter 2023 press tour via Variety. The series, which premiered in 2022, was the big winner at the 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards. Similar to the previous year, it took home several awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series. The Emmy Award-winning series stars Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Coming from Christopher Storer, The Bear follows a young chef who returns to his hometown to run his family sandwich shop amid his brother’s heartbreaking death.
In season 2, Carmen “Carmy” (Allen White) and his team set up to open a brand-new restaurant in the space, called The Bear. The season 2 finale left many unanswered questions. Carmy was stuck in the walk-in refrigerator room, and his team high on the first opening day. Carmy’s relationship with Claire imploded, and he argued with Uncle Richie. Luckily, fans won’t have to wait long to see what happens next.
Following the same schedule as the two previous seasons, The Bear season 3 will also premiere in June this year on Hulu, although the day is unclear. However, Landgraf confirmed that there is “no doubt” that Hulu will follow the same release strategy, and will allow viewers to binge-watch the entire season on its premiere date. “It wasn’t lost on me or anyone who worked on the show that it was anxiety-inducing,” he said. “So we made a decision to drop the whole thing because it has a beautiful, uplifting ending.”
During the press tour, fans also wanted to know whether season 3 would also include a star-studded episode similar to season 2’s Christmas episode. However, Landraf didn’t have an answer to that. “Unfortunately, I can’t. I was as surprised as you were when the Christmas episode came through the door.”
The Bear season 3 will be available on Hulu in June 2024.
