The Haunting of Hill House and Bly Manor creator Mike Flanagan debuted first trailer for Midnight Mass, his upcoming supernatural horror series. But the new show gives us different kind of creeps.
Mike Flanagan, the mastermind behind The Haunting Of series, has a new series soon. The creator said the new series has nothing to do with the Haunting world, but he is not leaving the supernatural behind.
His new series will also hit on Netflix, and includes creepy churches and deserted islands where things start happening with the arrival of a charismatic priest (Hamish Linklater). The isolated island of Crockett Island experiences miraculous and creepy events that no one can explain.
The creator wrote, executively produced and directed the new series. He teamed up once again with his wife Kate Siegel and Henry Thomas, who were both part of the two Haunting Of series. They are joined by Annabeth Gish, Samantha Sloyan, Rahul Kohli, Alex Essoe and Michael Trucco.
Over the last week, the creator has been hinting at the new project that wrapped up production in late 2020. The official Instagram page of The Haunting has been sharing snippets from the trailer that finally debuted today.
The first snippet wrote: “We’re 30 miles from the mainland with only two ferries a day.”
The second, showing a deserted swing, said: “We used to be a community of hundreds. Now we’re just dozens.”
The third, showing a kayak with three people paddling in the night, said: “We are living in a miraculous time… right here on Crockett Island.”
In a statement, Flanagan calls this his “favorite project so far. As a former altar boy, about to celebrate 3 years of sobriety, it’s not that hard to see what makes this so personal.”
Midnight Mass will premiere on Netflix on September 24.
