The Royal Family Celebrates Archie’s Second Birthday

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex

Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor has just turned two! The Royal Family took it to social media and shared pictures and sent well wishes for Archie’s second birthday.

The Royal Family is celebrating yet another birthday. After Queen Elizabeth‘s birthday on April 21st, they had quite some other celebrations going on. Kate Middleton and Prince William celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary. A few days later, their daughter, Princess Charlotte, turned six.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are now celebrating Archie’s second birthday. The couple, who are expecting a baby girl this summer, shared a cute picture of the birthday boy. The picture is sepia-toned and shows Archie standing in a garden with his back to the camera, holding a large bunch of balloons.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared the picture with a plea for donations to a COVID-19 vaccine fund. They wrote: “We have been deeply touched over the past two years to feel the warmth and support for our family in honor of Archie’s birthday.”

The couple also added: “This year, our world continues to be on the path to recovery from COVID-19. Yet too many families are still struggling with the impact of this pandemic. While some places are on the verge of healing, in so many parts of the world, communities continue to suffer. As of today, around 80 percent of the nearly one billion COVID-19 vaccine shots that have been given were administered in wealthier countries. While we may feel that normalcy is around the corner, we remind ourselves that in much of the world, and especially in developing countries, vaccine distribution has effectively yet to start.”

While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are trying to raise funds, they weren’t the only ones celebrating.

Queen Elizabeth also wished her great-grandson a happy birthday. “Wishing Archie Mountbatten-Windsor a very happy 2nd birthday today.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have also taken it to social media to celebrate.

Prince Charles also stepped in. Alongside their message, Charles and his wife, Camilla, shared a photo of the Prince of Wales with Harry and Archie at his christening.
