Ever since the Oscars, there has been a lot of talk about Will Smith and Chris Rock, and the Academy. A lot of people think the moment was planned, while some disagree.

But, if it were true, indeed, many people are wondering why didn’t the Academy tell Will Smith to leave. Not long after slapping Chris Rock for his insensitive joke about Jada Pinkett-Smith, Will hopped on stage again, this time, a winner.

Although the actor received a standing ovation, many celebrities are wondering why. And they had harsh words about allowing him to stay.

But now it looks like they didn’t, and did, in fact, tell him to leave. According to sources who were present at the event, they shared with TMZ that two officials did ask him to leave. The people in question were David Rubin, the President of the Academy, and Dawn Hudson, the CEO.

The outlet reports that the two were “furious“, and that they had “heated conversations” and there was a lot of “yelling” with Will’s reps. According to one source, the Academy officials were “apoplectic.”

But, despite that they asked him to leave, the actor didn’t. And he continued to stay as if nothing happened. And, when time came and he won for Best Leading Actor for his role in King Richard, he hopped on stage with a cheesy speech, and cried.

Part of his speech included bits like: “I’m being called on in my life to love people and to protect people and to be a river to my people. Now I know, to do what we do, you’ve got to be able to take abuse. You got to be able to have people talk crazy about you.”

He also added: “I want to be a vessel for love.

Of course, he couldn’t miss the opportunity to address what happened. And he apologized. Not to Rock, but to everyone else. “I want to apologise to the Academy. I want to apologise to all my fellow nominees.” He also added that “love will make you do crazy things.”
