Actress Zooey Deschanel and Property Brothers‘ Jonathan Scott are engaged, the couple revealed on social media with a cute picture.
The 500 Days of Summer actress and the Property Brothers host are heading down the aisle soon! Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott announced on social media that they are engaged.
Sharing a selfie from their holiday in Scotland, UK, the couple pose smiling in front of a castle. Deschaneel holds her hand up, wearing a gorgeous engagement ring, with clear, pink and purple stones in a flower pattern. “Forever starts now!” they captioned the picture, adding some smiling heart emojis and an infinity symbol.
The reason for the proposal during the family trip in Scotland has a special meaning for Jonathan. His father, Jim, emigrated from Scotland as a teen to Canada. Jonathan and his twin brother, Drew, both wore kilts at the latter’s wedding in 2018.
Jonathan and Zooey had been dating for four years. Th two met in August 2019 while filming an episode of James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke. Both were joined by their famous sibilings, Drew and Bones actress Emily Deschanel.
On an April 2020 episode of Drew and his wife Linda Phan’s podcast At Home, Jonathan admitted he was “flirting so hard” with Zooey the day they met. “The show’s producer had to cut a bunch of it out.” He jokes, “I thought I was playing it cool.“
Both were previously married. Zooey was married to Jacob Pechenik, for four years, with whom she shares daughters Elsie and Charlie. They broke up in 2019, with their divorce finalized in May 2020. Prior to that, she was married to Death Cab for Cutie’s frontman, Ben Gibbard, between 2009 and 2012.
Meanwhile, Jonathan was married to Kelsy Ully, a flight coordinator, between 2007 and 2010.
