A long time in the making, It Ends With Us has found her Lily: Blake Lively. The novel comes from beloved, award-winning author Colleen Hoover. The author revealed in 2019 that Baldoni purchased the rights for her novel but that he wanted to take his time.

Baldoni, famous for his role of Rafael in the Jane the Virgin series, will play the role of Ryle, but he’s also at the helm of the movie.

The actors and the author will have creative say as executive producers on the upcoming It Ends With Us movie. Alex Saks (The Florida Project) and Christy Hall (I Am Not Okay With This) will also act as producers, with the latter penning the script.

The author herself shared her excitement online via her private CoHorts group. She wrote, “I’m so excited, y’all. People who haven’t seen him act have been asking if Justin is a good actor. I’ve been sharing this clip from Jane the Virgin with them. Can so see him bringing the intensity to Ryle’s character. I was hoping someone lovable would play him so we can feel the pain when we have to hate him, and I think Justin will encompass that perfectly.

As to Lively’s cast, she simply reacted, “And Blake. No intro needed I DIE.”

The main character is Lily Bloom and the plot includes domestic violence conversations as her relationship with doctor Ryle Kincaid turns out to be too good to be true. The actor who will play Atlas, Lily’s first love, has not been revealed yet.

This isn’t the first Colleen Hoover possible adaptation. A while back, actor and model Nick Bateman and Cody Hackman were supposed to star in the adaptation of Ugly Love, which was never made.

But fingers crossed for this one!
