Demi Lovato Comes Out as Non-Binary

Demi Lovato has taken a brave step and publicly came out as non-binary. The artist, who has been struggling with addiction and depression in the past, made the announcement on their new podcast.

Demi , just like a lot of other Disney child actors, has found fame at an early age. But that isn’t always a good thing. Demi admitted having struggled a lot with alcoholism and a cocaine addiction.

Demi Lovato just came out as non-binary. The singer also announced the change of pronouns from she/ her to they/ them. Demi said the new pronouns “best represents the fluidity I feel in my gender expression.”

Non-binary people don’t identify as male or female, and tend not to conform to gender norms.

When it comes to their sexuality, Demi said they are sexually fluid, and has said they are open to finding love with someone of any gender. In July 2020, they labeled themself queer in a social media statement mourning the death of their Glee co-star Naya Rivera.

But in March 2021, Lovato came out as pansexual, stating in an interview, “I’ve always known I was hella queer, but I have fully embraced it.” In the same interview, they called themselves “just too queer” to date men at the time.

Demi expressed that they feel proud of belonging to what they called the “alphabet mafia”, referring to the LGBTQ+ community.

And after making the announcement on their new podcast, 4D with Demi Lovato, Demi also took it to Twitter to share the news.

“Today is a day I’m so happy to share more of my life with you all.”

“I am proud to let you know that I identify as non-binary & will officially be changing my pronouns to they/them moving forward.”

But Demi said they came to understand their gender identity after spending time doing “healing and self-reflective work” over the past year.
