Ed Sheeran‘s new song, “Bad Habits,” has just debuted, and it makes the perfect post-pandemic song. The “Perfect” singer created a different beat, but, in essence, it’s still the same singer we know and love.
For the past month, Ed Sheeran has been hinting at new music. Besides his song “Afterglow” that he shared last year, he hasn’t released a new album in ages. And it’s long overdue.
He also knew that, and had enough time to work on his sounds, until he came up with something different.
Ed Sheeran’s new song, “Bad Habits” just premiered and it comes with a fun, fresh video. It’s the first single off his upcoming yet-untiled fourth album.
The British singer appears to live in a world where “nothing happens after 2,” but after the sun sets, we’re all vampires. The song seems more upbeat than anything he’s done so far, but the idea could resemble the pop sensation “Shape of You,” but more disco.
The video is a great post-pandemic idea, where you get the slight uncomfortable feel about seeing a huge crowd, while also enjoying music outside again.
In the video, Ed sports a fuchsia suit with glam makeup, and a very fun, unlike him, haircut.
It’s the first time he dances like this in a video, too, if we don’t think of his waltz in “Thinking Out Loud.”
But when the dawn cracks and everyone runs away from the first glimpse at the sun, Ed slowly transforms back into himself, getting a guitar and jamming by himself, in a very signature move. Which might suggest that, despite the upbeat tone of “Bad Habits,” he’ll still break our hearts with the new album.
Ed will also be performing today at UEFA Euro 2021, where he will perform “Bad Habits” for the first time, alongside some of his older songs. The television debut performance of “Bad Habits” will be on The Late Late Show next week.
[Verse 1]
Every time you come around, you know I can’t say no
Every time the sun goes down, I let you take control
I can feel the paradise before my world implodes
And tonight I had something wonderful
[Chorus]
My bad habits lead to late nights, endin’ alone
Conversations with a stranger I barely know
Swearin’ this will be the last but it probably won’t
I got nothin’ left to lose, or use, or do
My bad habits lead to wide eyes stare into space
And I know I’ll lose control of the things that I say
Yeah, I was lookin’ for a way out, now I can’t escape
Nothin’ happens aftеr two, it’s true, it’s true
My bad habits lead to you
[Post-Chorus]
Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
My bad habits lеad to you
Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
My bad habits lead to you
[Verse 2]
Every pure intention ends when the good times start
Fallin’ over everything to reach the first time’s spark
It started under neon lights and then it all got dark
I only know how to go too far
Nothin’ happens after two, it’s true, it’s true
My bad habits lead to you
[Post-Chorus]
Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
My bad habits lead to you
Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
My bad habits lead to you
[Bridge]
We took the long way ’round
And burned ’til the fun ran out, now
Nothin’ happens after two, it’s true, it’s true
My bad habits lead to you
[Post-Chorus]
Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
My bad habits lead to you
Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
My bad habits lead to you
