Swifties have been trying hard to decode Swift’s Easter Eggs for years but it finally paid off. A common theory circulating online was that she might announced 1989 (Taylor’s Version) on 8/9. That ended up being true, and Taylor announced it at the last show of the U.S. leg of The Eras Tour.

For the sixth show at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California, Taylor Swift donned all blue costumes, a color pertaining to 1989. During the acoustic part of her show, the “Shake It Off” superstar finally announced the upcoming re-recorded album.

The last time that I was so pleasantly surprised by some stuff that you guys did was when I announced that I was going to be re-recording. That was something that I expected to be just a me thing, just a personal thing. Since I was a teenager, I wanted to own my music,” Swift said onstage before the announcement. “The way to do it was to re-record my albums, and the way that you have embraced… that you have celebrated, that you really decided that it was your fight too, and that you were 100 percent behind me… I will never stop thanking you for that.

Swift continued, “And so now, here we are on the last night of the U.S. leg of the Eras tour in the eighth month of the year on the ninth day. You might have noticed there are some new outfits in the show. There’s something that I’ve been planning for a really, really, really ridiculously, embarrassingly long time, and instead of telling you about it, I think I’ll just sort of show you,” she said, unveiling the cover art and release date for 1989 (Taylor’s Version) on the big screen. The album will be out October 27th.

The first surprise song of the night was “New Romantics,” a fan-favorite track off the deluxe edition of her record, and the last one left from 1989.

On social media, Swift also gave more details about the upcoming album, revealed that it’s her “favorite.”

Surprise!! 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is on its way to you 🔜! The 1989 album changed my life in countless ways, and it fills me with such excitement to announce that my version of it will be out October 27th. To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record I’ve ever done because the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane. I can’t believe they were ever left behind. But not for long!

So far, she has released two songs off the album, “This Love (Taylor’s Version) and “Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version).”
