I will put it right from the start that, as a major, major Swiftie, “All Too Well” is my all-time favorite song since I’ve listened to Red. I can remember the moment, sitting back on the floor and playing Red when it came out, in 2012. My journey with Taylor Swift has begun prior to Speak Now, and it’s going strong.

Why did I mention this? I just wanted to put it out there that the hype “All Too Well” is getting right now only intensifies my love for this magnificently written song. I’ve believed it’s a masterpiece for almost a decade, and, I still do. A lot of people do.

Coming back to present day, Taylor Swift has just released her second re-recorded album, Red (Taylor’s Version). Chronologically, it was her fourth album, and my personal favorite, alongside reputation.

Taylor Swift is finally giving the recognition “All Too Well” deserves with her first-directed short film. Starring Dylan O’Brien (Teen Wolf) and Sadie Sink (Stranger Things), the couple’s chemistry is off the hooks.

During the New York premiere, Taylor avoided talking about who the song is about, and added that the songs were hers “years ago, now they’re ours.”

She also denied any resemblance to Princess Diana‘s revenge dress for her interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers. She added that she just liked how it looks. She did confirm that the car in the music video is a 1989 model, because she’s so into numerology. Is that an Easter Egg?

She also noted how much she loved her fans, who were chanting “All Too Well” outside the premiere.

The music video includes a scene that’s mentioned in one of the songs From the Vault: “I Bet You Think About Me,” Tay’s collaboration with Chris Stapleton.

There, the couple hangs out with his friends, who couldn’t be more different than her. The couple ends up fighting in the kitchen, a scene that resonates with the lyric “dance around the kitchen in the refrigerator light,” which is later shown after the couple makes up.

Made up of several parts, the almost 15-minute music video includes “An Upstate Escape,” “The First Crack in the Glass,” “Are You Real?” “The Reeling,” and “The Remembering.”

Taylor Swift herself makes a cameo in the music video, with a 13 years-later flash forward. Obviously 13.

During the interview with Seth Meyers, Swift admitted Sink was her first choice for the character, and she (probably) wouldn’t have done the short film should she had said no. She also admitted she’s a big fan of O’Brien.

To put it out in the open, Taylor has never admitted who her songs are about. But the 10-minute “All Too Well” all but confirms is about A-list actor Jake Gyllenhaal. If you want the breakdown about what happened between the two, here you have the full information.

This isn’t the first time Taylor Swift has directed a music video. But it’s the first time she’s ever done something like this, and it’s as magnificent as it gets.
