Taylor Swift’s fans, or Swifties, have been dubbing themselves “clowns” for the last few months. Why? Because they’ve been coming up with extremely complicated theories about when Tay might drop new music. And, so far, they’ve been mostly wrong.

Swift has been quiet on social media a lot, and people have been wondering which album would get released next. Would it be Speak Now or the critically-acclaimed, country-princess-turns-pop album 1989?

There’s no answer to that yet.

But what we do have is a second single from 1989. With the release of the trailer for the adaptation of Jenny Han‘s The Summer I Turned Pretty, we get a glimpse of a new Taylor Swift re-recorded song: “This Love (Taylor’s Version).”

A lovely ballad, the song didn’t get much recognition the first time around. But now, as it’s the second song released off 1989 (after “Wildest Dreams”), it will surely get the attention it deserves.

And Swift finally broke her silence on social media, writing: “Thank you @jennyhan for debuting my version of This Love in the trailer for @thesummeriturnedpretty!!

She continued: “I’ve always been so proud of this song and I’m very 🥺🥺🥺 about this turn of events – This Love (Taylor’s Version) comes out tonight at m i d n i g h t!

And came out it did. Funnily enough, The first snippet of “Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)” was also featured in a trailer. We first heard it in the 2021 animated film Spirit Untamed, released on March 12, 2021.

After releasing it, Tay wrote on social media: “This Love (My version!) is out & I’m currently reliving the 1989 tour in my head and spiraling, it’s fine.” So are we, Tay, so are we.

Fans all around keep hoping Tay won’t forget about us anymore, and will finally return with a record-breaking re-recorded album. Here’s to hoping.
