Taylor Swift has just released her tenth album, Midnights, and it broke the Spotify record in less than 24 hours after its release.
Taylor Swift may be in the midst of re-recording her older albums, but her creativity knows no bounds. Late this August, the “All Too Well” singer/songwriter announced TS10, called Midnights.
Less than two months after, on October 21, the album hit all streaming services. But it didn’t take Midnights long to break the Spotify record, in fact, it was just before the clock hit midnight.
“And before the clock could even strike midnight on October 22nd, Taylor Swift broke the record for most-streamed album in a single day in Spotify history. Congratulations, taylorswift13,” the platform’s official account tweeted.
The star also heard the news and thanked her fans after re-tweeting the message. She wrote: “How did I get this lucky, having you guys out here doing something this mind blowing?! Like what even just happened??!?!“

This is hardly surprising for Swift, who previously broke the record most-streamed albums in a single day several times. The other albums include Red (Taylor’s Version) and Folklore.
Her first single, “Anti-Hero” is leading its New Music Daily category on Apple Music, though the rival streaming service has yet to report any records broken by the album.
In a post on her Instagram to mark the album’s release, she shared a photo of herself with her collaborators, and singled out Jack Antonoff as her “co-pilot”.
“He’s my friend for life (presumptuous I know but I stand by it) and we’ve been making music together for nearly a decade HOWEVER … this is our first album we’ve done with just the two of us as main collaborators,” she wrote.
“We’d been toying with ideas and had written a few things we loved, but Midnights actually really coalesced and flowed out of us when our partners (both actors) did a film together in Panama.
“Jack and I found ourselves back in New York, alone, recording every night, staying up late and exploring old memories and midnights past.”
She continued: “Midnights is a collage of intensity, highs and lows and ebbs and flows. Life can be dark, starry, cloudy, terrifying, electrifying, hot, cold, romantic or lonely. Just like Midnights.”
