You must’ve lived under a rock if you haven’t heard about Amber Heard and Johnny Depp‘s civil lawsuit. The drama started after their public divorce, only 15 months after tying the knot. Amber filed for divorce in 2016, and sought a restraining order against the beloved actor. Later on, she published an op-ed in 2018 where she accused him of domestic violence. She referred to herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse.” She did not name Depp, though. But everyone thought this is who she was referring to.

But that wasn’t the end of it. After he lost a liber trial set in the UK against The Sun after the outlet called him a “wife beater,” the lawsuit moved to the U.S. Depp sued Heard for $50 million over her post in The Washington Post. She sued him back, with a $100 million counterclaim.

The lawsuit is currently ongoing, and the fans are siding with Johnny Depp. They also created a hashtag, “I Stand With Johnny” and “Justice For Johnny Depp.”

You might remember that, amid their domestic violence dispute. Warner Bros “forced” Johnny to retire from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, replacing him with Mads Mikkelsen. Disney also decided to drop him from a sixth installment of the fan-favorite franchise Pirates of the Caribbean.

Meanwhile, Johnny wasn’t the only problematic person in the relationship. Rumors that Heard left poop on the actor’s bed as a “horrible practical joke gone wrong” were swirling at the same time she starred in Warner Bros’ Aquaman superhero movie, where she stars as Mera. She was also accused of smashing Depp’s finger with a vodka bottle, and more.

But, while all of this was happening to Depp, nothing was happening to Heard. Mind you, both of them were highly toxic to each other. Were they both abusive? There is a much larger conversation here.

So, fans launched a petition to remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2. Did it work? Not quite, but now reports suggest she doesn’t have much screen time. In fact, she only has ten minutes.

According to film journalist Grace Randolph‘s tweet, fans won’t be seeing much of Heard. The sequel, which will be out in March 2023, will only feature Amber for a short while.

It’s unclear whether her role was always meant to be small, or if this is a consequence in the wake of her lawsuit with Depp. Plus, the said petition reached almost three million signatures at the time of publication, and Warner Bros hate a scandal. So far, neither Heard or WB commented on this.
